The Dobcross Youth Band

The Dobcross Youth Band is a brass band of committed players aged between six and 18 based in the village of Dobcross in Saddleworth. Formed in 1988 with a few village children it has now grown into a thriving organisation with more than 70 players, and a busy programme of concerts, competitions, social outings and supporting charities.

Dobcross Youth Band

Today we should have been saying a very fond farewell to this year’s leavers, the fantastic Ben, Connie, Eleanor, Emily, Julian, Lucy and Rachel. With our summer concert, cancelled we’ve instead put together this short video to remind them of their happy days with the band - including performances at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, the Menin Gate in Belgium, Blackpool’s Winter Gardens and Birmingham Symphony Hall, as well as plenty of Whit Fridays and concerts closer to home. They are all brilliant role models as well as talented players and we will all miss them very much. As always with anyone who has ever been part of the DYB family, we hope they will come back to see us and keep in touch. We’re sorry we couldn’t present their leaving watches in person and even sorrier to miss the solos they had been practising for their final concert but they head off to university this autumn with huge thanks and lots of love from everyone at DYB. ...
