New faces, old friends, all smiles – well done and thank you to everyone who contributed to the magnificent Dobcross Whit Friday.
Our beginners, trainers, youth band and friends made up a sea of scarlet for the morning with around 90 youngsters in the procession – and then the trainers and youth band, with their respective MDs also took part in the evening contests.
We were hugely grateful for the wonderful reception they got everywhere but especially Dobcross and they even managed a few prizes. What was most valuable though was the fun, friendship and sense of achievement they all got – just look at those smiles in our Facebook posts from the day.
Since then they’ve been able to put those marching skills into practice again by taking part in the 200th annual walking day in Chorley and also the annual Grappenhall Walking Day.
Back in Dobcross, we had players supporting the charities open garden day on 9 July and have started preparing for the Autumn Leaves contest in Greenfield at the start of September.
If the first Whit Friday in three years has inspired your child to want to join the band, we offer free sessions for beginners but also welcome more experienced players and provide instruments for all our players. Rehearsals are on Tuesday and Friday evenings at Dobcross Band Club
